Communications Director
The Colorado Children's Immunization Coalition promotes improved access, delivery and demand for children’s vaccinations to keep Colorado healthy. We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization composed of over 200 members representing over 80 organizations, including the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, local health departments, professional associations, community organizations, corporations, and individuals. We work with the public to vaccine-preventable disease through:
- Community outreach and education campaigns increasing public confidence in vaccination.
- Provider education on best practices and vaccine developments and regulations.
- Encouraging collaboration between members, program partners and providers.
- Advocacy for state policies that support access and delivery of preventative care.
The Communications Director reports to the Executive Director, and is responsible for directing and implementing the organization’s communication strategy.
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage the organization’s annual communications plan with input from CCIC members and partners, including monthly e-newsletters, clinical updates, calls to action, and special event communication.
- Direct the organization’s media relations, including writing and editing articles and building relationships with members of the traditional and social media.
- Development and distribution of CCIC’s Annual Report.
- Maintain and grow CCIC’s connections with community health groups and parent groups across the state.
- Work closely with state and local public health partners to collaborate on outreach projects to Colorado communities.
- Work with contractors to manage successful and timely delivery of campaign objectives.
- Manage an evaluation plan measuring the impact of CCIC communication efforts.
- Supervise one full-time Communication Coordinator.
- Manage CCIC’s annual fundraising event.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 2-3 years of communications experience, preferably in a health-oriented field.
- Experience in media relations, marketing, and/or public relations
- Excellent communication skills, including exceptional writing skills
- Project management skills
- Experience using social media to connect with community stakeholders.
- Skilled in building and maintaining thriving professional relationships.
- Self-starter with ability to work independently
- Experience in event management
- Skilled at using a collaborative approach to meeting goals and deadlines.
- Strong computer skills are essential. Graphic design experience is a plus.
- BA/BS degree required. Masters degree preferred.
- Dedication to improving Colorado’s health through vaccination.
Position is exempt, full-time with a flexible schedule. Salary range is $42,000 - $48,000 DOE with full benefits.
