The Colorado Children’s Immunization Coalition hosted its first ever SOUP! (Shots Offer Unrivaled Protection) Event on April 17, 2008 at the ColoradoHistoryMuseum. The unique soup-tasting event gave CCIC and its partners the opportunity to celebrate their many successes. Over 175 guests enjoyed tasting various soups from some of Colorado’s best restaurants and voted for the soups they considered the Best and Most Creative. The Children’s Hospital won the 2008 Best Soup Award for its chicken tortilla soup, while Vesta Dipping Grill won the 2008 Most Creative Soup Award for its chilled champagne melon soup. Several soup recipes and participating chef biographies can be found by following the link below.
CCIC took great pleasure in honoring Dr. Ned Calonge, the Chief Medical Officer of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, with the 2008 Big Shot of the YearAward for his commitment to the health of Colorado’s children as an advocate for childhood immunizations. Colorado Lieutenant Governor Barbara O’Brien was in attendance and introduced Dr. Calonge during the award presentation. The Colorado Health Foundation matched all donations received at the event.
