2014 Sure Shot (Regional) - Lori Quick

Lori Stonehocker Quick, RN, MSN, CNS has been a practicing nurse for 28 years. After working two years as an RN in the hospital setting she worked for four years at Tri-County Health Department as a public health nurse completing newborn/post-partum home visits, weekly immunization clinics, and infectious disease control investigations. Lori then returned to school to obtain her Master’s of Science in Nursing degree with a certified nurse specialty in Education from the University of Northern Colorado. In 1993, Lori was hired as the Standards of Immunization Practice Clinical Coordinator for the Colorado Children’s Immunization Coalition developing training programs and performing statewide provider education on immunizations. The following year she was hired as the nurse consultant for the CDPHE, Immunization Program where she became responsible for many duties but most notably for provider education, the development of training tools and resources, and as the program’s Assessment, Feedback, Incentives and eXchange (AFIX) coordinator.

Lori’s work as an education specialist and the AFIX coordinator resulted in her presenting at several National Immunization Conferences as well as being published in the Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine and in Clinical Pediatrics. In between her years as a CDPHE employee Lori worked as a contractor for the American Nurse’s Foundation to develop an Immunization CE online module focused on the life span approach to immunization. She also served as a speaker on the national speaker’s bureau for GlaxoSmithKline and for two years she contracted with them to serve as their national speaker’s bureau coordinator. 

Lori is a 3^rd generation Colorado Native and has lived in Durango for the last 14 years where she and her husband, Mark, raised their three children, Hannah (19 – a Sophomore at Colorado College), Harrison (17 –a senior at Animas High School), and Sophia (15 –a junior, moving to Boston to attend Billerica Memorial High School and to play hockey for the Boston Shamrocks). Lori’s hobbies include road riding, running, hiking, reading, knitting and most recently, paddle boarding on the Animas River. She also spends a great deal of time traveling throughout the US and Canada with her youngest daughter who plays competitive ice hockey.
