Free and Low-Cost Immunizations
Vaccines for Children (VFC)
Vaccines for Children (VFC) is a federally-funded nationwide program that provides free or reduced-cost vaccines to doctors who administer low-cost vaccines.
To be eligible for the program, your child must be less than 18 years old, and must be Medicaid eligible, under insured, Native America or Alaskan native. If your child meets one of these criteria, they can get vaccines from any VFC Program-enrolled provider for little to no cost. The maximum administrative fee you may be required to pay varies statewide; in Colorado the maximum is $14.74. Please visit the Colorado VFC website to learn more and locate a VFC provider.
The Colorado Immunization Program helps to further the VFC program’s initiative for Colorado families. CIP provides free vaccines to virtually all local public health agencies (LPHA) in Colorado. Each county has an LPHA or clinic that serves as a ‘safety net’ for low cost vaccines. The vaccines are available for all children who are eligible for VFC and for children who are underinsured (i.e. high co-pay, deductible) Contact the Colorado Immunization Program to learn more about school immunization requirements and VFC providers in your area.
