CCIC Mission and Goals

The mission of the Colorado Children's Immunization Coalition (CCIC) is to ensure that Colorado children receive all recommended immunizations at appropriate ages and therefore, children are maximally protected against vaccine preventable disease. The goal of CCIC is that at least ninety percent of Colorado children will be fully immunized, and there will be no deaths or life-altering morbidity from vaccine preventable disease in our state. CCIC’s objectives include successfully convening and facilitating community-based partners to better immunize local children, managing public awareness campaigns, and presenting education for physicians, staff and parents. These interventions are based on strategies documented in peer-reviewed literature to effectively improve immunization rates. CCIC has also been instrumental in addressing policy initiatives that will better protect our children from vaccine preventable disease.

Data just released from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Immunization Survey for 2005 report childhood immunizations in Colorado have climbed significantly and we now rank 16th out of the 50 states. Eighty-three percent of our two to three year old children are well immunized. This is a significant improvement from our last place ranking in 2002 through 2003, and 44th place in 2004.
