Vaccine safety is top priority throughout all steps in the development and administration processes. The Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) and the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP) are two essential systems that help ensure the safety and adequate public health response in the rare instance of a vaccine safety issue. During this coalition meeting, CCIC members learned more about these systems. Dr. Matt Daley provided an overview of the vaccine licensing process and an update on the new VAERS 2.0 reporting procedures; Alexis Babcock provided an overview of the VICP process.
