Bryce Andersen, MS, RN, and Karen Miller, BSN, RN, of Tri-County Health Department delved into their first-hand experiences from the field to prepare attendees for the start of the school year.

  • Provided an overview of evidence-based strategies to increase vaccination rates during the back-to-school period

  • Dove into the nurse’s perspective – most critical updates and interesting insight to consider for the school year

Bryce Andersen, MS, RN
Immunization and Core Public Health Nurse Manager

Bryce Andersen is currently the immunizations and core nursing program manager at Tri-County Health Department (TCHD), and is clinical affiliate faculty for Regis University, University of Colorado, and the University of Northern Colorado, Colleges of Nursing. Bryce received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Colorado in 2003 and a Masters of Science Degree in Nursing Education from Regis University in 2011. Bryce has worked with TCHD for 13 years including being an immunization nurse, disease control investigator, program coordinator for the Healthy Communities Team and Access to Care, special projects program coordinator, and operations section Chief for the Public Health Incident Management Team. Bryce has received several national awards including first place for the City MatCH conference for Science Translated into Action and Results in 2008, a Model Practice Award from the National Association of City and County Health Organizations for Anthrax Prophylaxis Screening in 2015, and the Outstanding Affiliate Faculty Award from Regis University in 2014.

Karen Miller, BSN, RN
Immunization Program Coordinator
Tri-County Health Department
Karen Miller is currently the immunization program coordinator at Tri-County Health Department (TCHD). Karen received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Colorado University in 2003 and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Regis University in 2006. Karen has worked with TCHD for nine years including being an immunization lead nurse, disease control investigator, Health Alert Network subject matter expert, and the operations section subject matter expert for the Public Health Incident Management Team. Karen received the 2013 Colorado Immunization Champion Award for excellence in increasing statewide immunization rates and is passionate about leading and educating her team to protect the community against vaccine preventable diseases.
