CCIC Provider Education: HPV 101 and Motivational Interviewing Training
A training through the Denver Metro Alliance for HPV Prevention
Did you know that every year, more than 30,700 women and men are diagnosed with a cancer caused by HPV? That’s about one new case every 20 minutes! Research has shown that a healthcare provider recommendation for the HPV vaccine is one of the most important factors to help prevent HPV-related cancer.
The Denver Metro Alliance for HPV Prevention, in partnership with the Colorado Children’s Immunization Coalition, offered a free, two-part HPV education training session for healthcare providers, public health workers, educators and researchers. These trainings were led by an expert nurse.
HPV 101 — Provided attendees with the latest information on the burden of HPV, information on the NEW HPV vaccination guidelines, and how to provide a strong recommendation for the HPV vaccine.
Motivational Interviewing Training — Provided attendees with the skills to counsel vaccine hesitant parents or patients.
One (1) CME credit was offered for each training. Attendees of both training sessions received (2) total CME credits.
