Presented by Amanda Dempsey, MD, PhD, MPH, Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Children's Outcomes Research Program, University of Colorado School of Medicine
This presentation reviewed key findings from Dr. Amanda Dempsey and her study team at the Children’s Outcomes Research Program (COR) recent studies in this area including:
- National data on the frequency and types of alternative vaccination schedules currently being used by parents
- Attitudes of “traditional-schedule” parents that indicate the problem of parental vaccine hesitancy may grow even further
- Data from a pilot project that suggests providing individually tailored educational information may be an efficient way to alter negative attitudes about vaccines among parents
- Plans for a new study to further investigate the utility of tailored education on overcoming parental barriers to vaccination
