2012 Sure Shot (Metro Denver) - Priscilla Hurley
Priscilla Hurley is a Clinical Supervisor for Tri-County Health Department. She is responsible for managing the weekly immunizations clinics at the Northglenn office and the offsite clinics at the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) sites in Adams County. Tri-County Health Department has a partnership with Reach Out and Read Colorado with the purpose of advocating to parents and children regarding the importance of reading. Priscilla is also the Reach Out and Read Coordinator for the Northglenn office. In the immunization waiting rooms of the Tri-County offices there are generous supplies of gently used books available for all children to take home. Children receiving shots who are from six months through five years of age receive a brand new age appropriate book as part of their clinic visit. In the dual role of clinical supervisor and ROR coordinator Priscilla along with a very supportive team of nurses and clerks are able to provide necessary immunizations and promote reading at the same time.
Priscilla Hurley is a Registered Nurse and has worked for Tri-County Health Department for four years. Nursing is Priscilla’s second career. Previous to working for Tri-County she was an engineer and software programmer, but ever since high school she was involved in a variety of volunteer programs focused on the health of children. In 2006 she began the process of making the change so that her volunteer hobby became her full-time career. Occasionally her past experience as an engineer/programmer is helpful regarding her new career as a nurse. She also works as a clinical analyst to provider support in making computer processes more efficient at Tri-County.
