2013 Sure Shot (Metro Denver) - Christie Hage

Christie Hage serves as the Immunization Program Coordinator for Tri-County Health Department, serving Adams, Arapahoe and Douglas Counties. TCHD is the largest health department in Colorado and provides over 50,000 vaccinations annually. 

A nurse for over 33 years, Christie’s career turned to Public Health in 1990 at Larimer County Department of Health and Environment in Fort Collins. She moved to the Metro area in 1996 and joined the staff at TCHD and moved to the Immunization program in 2001. She served as a team leader, immunization supervisor, and now Program Coordinator. Through this role, she has trained and mentored countless nursing students, new employees and support staff, sharing her passion and knowledge of Immunizations. She has seen the routine childhood immunization schedule grow from 4 vaccines to 13. Since her entry into Public Health, it has become a family affair with 2 of her daughters also pursuing careers in Public Health.

Christie was part of the implementation team for the Aurora Fire Fighters Shots for Tots Program which began September, 2002. This is a partnership between TCHD, the Aurora Fire Department, CCIC and three area rotary clubs.

Christie’s expertise is unsurpassed. She is the “go-to” person for complicated questions related to vaccine schedule, efficacy and safety for TCHD staff as well as providers and members of the community. She manages the agencies reminder/recall program, coordinates the vaccine inventory needs for 5 clinical locations, manages the agencies call center scheduling program which handles nearly 1000 calls weekly and conducts QA and on-going training for the Immunization program staff. Christie works with the Immunization leadership team to set and evaluate program policies and procedures, as well as participation on several committees at CDPHE.
