2013 Sure Shot (Regional) - Emily Anderson

Emily has been a public health nurse at Chaffee County Public Health since October of 2011. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Grove City College and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of Colorado at Colorado Springs Beth-El College of Nursing. Nursing is her second career. Before becoming a nurse, she worked as an event and conference planner. She is able to use her skills in organization, planning, and writing every day in the public health field.

The programs Emily oversees or participates in at CCPH include: School Located Vaccination Grant, Cavity Free at Three, Baby and Me Tobacco Free, Chaffee County Dental Coalition, Babysitter Training Program, Child Passenger Safety Program, and Healthy Start Nurse Home Visitation Program. She also does weekly immunization clinics, off-site immunization clinics, and communicable disease investigations.

Emily has lived in Salida since she was 5 years old. Though her parents had to bribe her with chocolate to hike as a child, she has since come around to love everything about the outdoors. She has a son Noah (one year old), and she can’t wait to take him on many different Colorado adventures.

“Emily has been very instrumental in promoting education and staffing immunization clinics for children, adolescents, and adults… Her leadership has has made a significant impact on vaccination rates in our county, especially in the adolescent (Tdap, HPV, Hep A, meningococcal) and adult age group (Tdap).” -- Susan Ellis, RN, Director, Chaffee County Public Health
