2016 Big Shot of the Year - Mary Glode, MD

Dr. Glode has been selected by the CCIC Board of Directors to receive the organization's highest honor for her dedication to protecting children from vaccine-preventable disease and promoting health for all of Colorado.

Mary (Mimi) Glode, MD, recently retired after working for many years as a pediatric infectious disease specialist at Children's Hospital Colorado. An internationally recognized expert on Kawasaki disease and immunization, Dr. Glode frequently presents at local, national, and international conferences. She is involved in clinical vaccine trials and pursues clinical studies of the etiology, epidemiology, and therapy of Kawasaki disease. She has published over 150 journal articles, abstracts, and book chapters on pediatric infectious diseases. Dr. Glode has participated in numerous national advisory committees for the Food and Drug Administration, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the National Institutes of Health. Her major areas of scientific interest include Kawasaki disease, the development of new pediatric vaccines, and residency education. Dr. Glode is also a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), Pediatric Infectious Disease Society, Society For Pediatric Research, Colorado Medical Society (CMS), and Western Society Pediatric Research.
