CCIC was recently awarded a grant from the Hepatitis B United Foundation to fund work across our state to increase knowledge of Hepatitis b virus (HBV) prevention, testing and linkages to care among Colorado's Asian American & Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AA&NHPI) communities by leverageing our vast statewide coalition infrastructure. This project will allow CCIC to engage with new non-traditional partners in these communities to increase awareness and intention to vaccinate, test, seek care and share information with family and friends about Hepatitis B. CCIC will also work to educate Colorado healthcare providers to increase clinical knowledge regarding Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommendations for the HBV birth dose, preventing parinatal transmission and testing for HBV in refugee and special populations. CCIC has presented at multiple local AA&NHPI-serving organizations on Hepatitis B and hosted provider education events for physicians and public health professionals.
