Vaccine-Preventable Diseases in Colorado's Children Report - September 2019 (Volume 2)

Prepared by pediatricians and researchers from the department of Epidemiology at Children’s Colorado, the report provides an analysis of the state of immunization in Colorado based on hospital and emergency department data from the Colorado Hospital Association and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE). The second report in a series this year, the September installment provides the latest update on local and national preventable disease outbreaks and highlights immunization data from 2018-19 and its implications for health and safety in Colorado’s schools and child care facilities. It also examines immunization views reported by Denver religious leaders and underscores the potential economic savings of increased influenza vaccination.

2018-2019 School District Immunization Fact Sheets

The 2018-2019 School District Immunization Fact Sheets and supplemental online dashboards provide local level data on childhood immunization coverage to help each Colorado school district understand its level of community protection and highlight successes and opportunities for improvement. Additionally, each fact sheet provides an overview of statewide Colorado vaccination and vaccine-preventable disease information, information on the importance of vaccination, and ways schools, public health and the community can partner to safeguard protection from vaccine-preventable disease.

Refugee and Immigrant School Health Immunization Training

CCIC formed the Colorado Refugee and Immigrant Immunization Task Force to identify and address barriers to immunization delivery and uptake among refugee and immigrant populations across the state. This 20-minute, on-demand training aims to support school nurses and other school health personnel in ensuring refugee and immigrant students are up to date on school-required vaccinations.

Vaccine-Preventable Diseases in Colorado's Children Report - February 2019 (Volume 1)

Prepared by pediatricians and researchers from the Department of Epidemiology at Children’s Colorado, the report provides an analysis of the state of health of Colorado’s children based on the most recent National Immunization Survey conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Colorado Hospital Association inpatient and emergency department data and Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment data. The first of three anticipated reports, the February installment of the Vaccine-Preventable Diseases in Colorado’s Children report examines 2017 data on vaccine-preventable diseases in Colorado, highlights the latest updates involving measles in our and other states, and underscores opportunities to decrease barriers to vaccination and improve rates. Findings show that, despite incremental improvement, there remain significant gaps in protection for Colorado’s children.

Implementing the 16-Year-Old Immunization Visit: A How-To Tool for Health Care Practices

​The Adolescent Immunization Intiative (AII) is a consortium of health care providers from multiple disciplines collaborating to raise immunization rates among older adolescents by establishing an immunization platform visit at 16 years of age. This fact sheet is intended to further help raise awareness of the adolescent 16-year-old immunization platform and provide practical implementation strategies for practices. State of the State's Immunizations: A Report on Colorado's Vaccine Protection for Its Communities

The first of its kind in over 15 years, the State of the State's Immunizations report draws on new school and child care data made available by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, as well as national, county and hospital-level data to provide an analysis of the state of immunization coverage in Colorado. The report examines vaccination rates among children, costs associated with vaccine-preventable disease, challenges to boosting immunization uptake, the role of immunization systems and technology in ensuring adequate immunization rates, and the impact of recent policy changes. It also offers opportunities and recommendations for immunization stakeholders to address vaccination gaps to better protect Colorado children and communities.
