2015 Medicaid Update: Payment for Office Visits and Vaccine Administration

Beginning January 1, 2015, Colorado Medicaid will reimburse covered office visit (E&M) procedure codes and vaccine administration procedure codes for all public and private Medicaid providers at a rate equal to 100% of Medicare’s December 2014 reimbursement rate. The new rate will be available to all enrolled providers that submit fee schedule claims for office visits or vaccine administrations. The new reimbursement rate has been authorized through June 2016.

HPV Vaccination Report: Colorado

Three vaccinations are recommended for boys and girls aged 11-12 years: human papillomavirus (HPV), tetanus, diphtheria, and acellular pertussis (Tdap), and meningococcal (MenACWY). Nationally, HPV vaccination coverage for teens lags behind other adolescent vaccinations and remains far below Healthy People 2020 targets of 80% coverage by 2020. Many efforts have focused on accelerating HPV vaccination uptake, and these quarterly reports highlight data and strategies to continue to facilitate collaboration in increasing HPV vaccination coverage. The current report will focus on the importance of a strong recommendation from clinicians. Individual immunization programs may also have other data and information about strategies already being implemented to increase HPV vaccination coverage in Colorado.
