Aug 16 2018

Presented by Paul Gillenwater, MPH
Data Unit Manager, Immunization Branch, CDPHE

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) has collected and published reported 2017 – 2018 school and child care immunization and exemption rates. The passage of the Colorado Board of Health rule 6 CCR 1009-2 requires public, private and parochial schools that enroll students in K-12th grade, as well as preschools, child care centers and Head Starts licensed for 10 or more children, to report their vaccination data to CDPHE annually. During this presentation, Paul Gillenwater, the Data Unit Manager for the Immunization Branch, toured the 2017 – 2018 immunization data set and dashboards and discussed overall themes and statistics. He also provided technical support on the immunization data reporting process for school and child care personnel responsible for reporting and discuss potential future changes and updates.

This presentation:

  • Outlined the school and child care immunization reporting process
  • Analyzed the current vaccine trends and coverage levels for the state of Colorado
  • Described changes in this year’s dashboards and data visualizations
  • Provided expert resources to answer questions and provide guidance on required reporting

Guest presenter:

Jessica Cataldi, MD, Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado Denver, presented the results of her recent survey which sought to determine the impact of publicly available vaccination rates on parental school and child care choice.
