Speak Up for Kids is a complimentary event that provides an insider’s perspective of the policy making process, including the training and support needed to speak up effectively on the issues that matter most to Colorado kids. If you care about kids’ issues but are uncertain how to make your voice heard on policy issues, this is the event for you! And if you’re an experienced advocate, 2016 Speak Up includes new workshops to continue building your skills.

The core Speak Up for Kids agenda runs from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and includes breakfast, tips for effective advocacy from Colorado legislators, issue briefings on bills under consideration by the legislature, preparation for legislator visits, a guided trip to the Colorado State Capitol to meet with the legislators who represent you, lunch, and inspiration from Nita Mosby Henry of Children’s Hospital Colorado and your fellow Speak Up attendees. New in 2016 are optional skills building sessions from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. which will provide more in-depth training on effective advocacy both within the legislature and in the community as a whole.
